Falling in love with Portugal

It’s been a while since I wrote a travel feature and this is my first travel blog.  I just couldn’t resist telling you about the 5 glorious days my family and I spent in Quinta do Lago and Sagres this Easter.  It was just too good to keep it to myself! Firstly Faro airport is only 30 minutes from Quinta do Lago so door to door from Dublin, we were at the pool at our resort in just under 5 hours; there is no time difference at all so you don’t even lose an hour, the airport is serviced by Aer Lingus…

My Eyebrow Obsession

If you read only one thing….read this…EYEBROWS MAKE YOU YOUNGER LOOKING! Fact! Here are pics of me after my Embrowdery yearly top up (€60) this week. These pics are not touched up. I am not wearing anything on my eyebrows – so no make up (apart from on my face), au naturale! Do not ignore the ‘Power of the Eyebrow’ to not only frame the face but give you an overall more youthful appearance.  Look back at younger pictures of yourself when you’re eyebrows were ‘untouched by tweezers’.  They were fuller right?  So, more eyebrows = a more youthful…

The Irish Reach Out for Children’s Refuge in Portugal

While Peter and I were in Portugal recently we were invited to attend what has become an annual event in Quinta do Lago, the Reach for Refugio project. Over the last 4 years a staggering amount of money has been raised to help children’s homes in the area, including a fabulous 42 seater ‘Dream Bus’. I was delighted to chat with one of the committee members, the lovely Deirdre Kelly, who has been helping Irish children with her Angels Quest charity, providing respite care for families, for 20 years. Sharon Crosbie flew in to entertain the crowd during a…

Keane On Style Delgany, Now On Sale!

We’re off to the garden of Ireland for the next Keane On Style event with an intimate evening in the beautiful Pigeon House, Delgany. It’s one of my favourite restaurants (sister to the fab Pigeon House in Clontarf) but it’s also one  of the best venues for a party or wedding (have a look at their website here). And, on that note, this Keane On Style evening will have a very special part of the show which will be wedding-themed as well as all the usual goody bag treats, wine, tasting plates, hair and makeup demos and beauty and skincare…

Irish have a lot to show off about at Showcase Ireland

To say I was blown away by the talent at Showcase Ireland is an underestimate and it is the Irish designers and artisans who have the most to be proud of. Without bias (honestly) they were by far the best.  I have always said we are a seriously talented bunch – that is why I have always chosen to wear Irish when I can.  I have reported on and worked with many wonderfully talented Irish designers over the course of my career and in the last year got to share some of those designers with you on my Keane On…
